CONTENT STRATEGIST, WRITER & EDITOR

I’M DARA (PETTINELLI) KAPOOR,

a writer, editor, and operational ninja with a passion for social justice, parenting, feminism, and entrepreneurship. I’m currently the Vice President of Content at Wine Enthusiast.

I have nearly 20 years of experience working in media, specifically in the lifestyle space. Most recently, I served as the digital content director of Health magazine. During my time at Health.com, the brand doubled its traffic, reached new revenue goals, and won editorial awards, most notably two Folio Eddie Awards for editorial excellence.

I’ve written for Fusion, The Huffington Post, ABCNews.com, Babble, and More magazine, among others. I believe that reality television is real, candy is a food group, and that writing is blissfully torturous.

In my spare time, I’m pursuing a master of fine arts degree at Sarah Lawrence University and WSET Certification.

Content Strategist

Through my years in working on digital properties, I’ve gained expertise in how to reach a wider audience — while targeting specific growth goals — via strategic partnerships, social experimentation, newsletter development, SEO, and brand differentiation. I eat, live, and breathe strategy.

Editor

My strategy is to ensure the copy speaks to a specific reader and keeps that reader’s attention from the headline copy to final sentence. Simultaneously, I work to maintain a writer’s tone and intent while never abusing a reader’s trust.

Writer

Writing is my first love and guides everything I do professionally. The genres at which I excel include: memoir, profile, timely commentary, Q&A, and humor. My heroes include: Joan Didion, Jack Kerouac, Hunter S. Thompson, Dorothy Parker, and my late Syracuse magazine professor William Glavin.

Researcher

In addition to my current work doing competitive analyses, I’ve also fact-checked for a range of magazines, from US Weekly (truth) and Golf Magazine, to Rolling Stone and Reader’s Digest, and was credited as a research editor for The New Rolling Stone Album Guide in 2004. At More magazine, I assisted feature editors with reporting, which included doing last-minute follow-up interviews to add more context to stories.

I’m taking on new projects and would love to chat. Let's Connect »
